Locally dug clay

On-going investigation: 2018-

Over the past years in Singapore I have been doing much walking and hiking. During these walks, I take photographs and videos, noticing the colour of the clay exposed on the surface of the terrain.

I have noticed that clay dug from a local-site, has a wonderful tactile quality and streaks of colour due to its varied mineral composition. Through further experimentation with this medium, I hope to uncover more about this material and draw out the layers of context and relationship it has with our vernacular landscape. Research in this untapped area, full of potential, might offer audiences a contrast to the progressive nature of our urbanised city.
